There Is No Off Season...

After a a short break, Dad & girls were itching to get outside and kick the ball around.  The mild North Texas weather opened the door to get outside during Thanksgiving week and sharpen our skills + for the second consecutive year we were locked & loaded for the Frisco High School Soccer Camp - basically 3 hours of fun with friends on a Saturday morning.  All Dad could say was "wow" as Jordan & Taylor, along with teammate Addison, dominated the U7 group - which featured co-ed play.  The girls made short work of their male counterparts + the support from High School mentors created an atmosphere of confidence & success for the Twins - whose performance could only be described as "best in class."

The day started with drills - shooting drills are old hat for the girls - Jordan launches a missile that finds its target
Taylor loves showing off her outside shot and the camp was no exception
Jordan works the cones with cat like agility
Ok - so we found a weakness - Dad never has, and will not be preaching the benefits of doing "headers" - heads are for thinking, not blunt force trauma!  Taylor braces for impact (side note - the young lady in red was a strong player that really pushed J&T throughout the morning)
Jordan handles the header as Addison & Taylor look on
Once the drills were finished the one-on-one, two-on-two, and scrimmage play began - Dad really liked what he saw in the head-to-head competition.  Jordan got the better of "Red" in this two-on-two drill as she saved this errant pass from going out of bounds and put it in the net shortly after
Jordan goes toe-to-toe with a male opponent as Red looks for an opportunity to steal the rock
A favorite picture from the morning - the young man pictured (Julian) is the son of one of Dad's coworkers and he's getting all he can handle from Jordan
Jordan works the ball up a crowded field during the full scrimmage
Taylor strikes a pose for what could be her trading card picture
Taylor was scoring in bunches as she put this ball airborne for a rare "in the box" goal...
...and blasted this ball past a defender from her at home outside perch
Taylor "ain't afraid of no boys" as she takes on Julian in one-on-one while Red & Jordan are next up
This boy defender gets unceremoniously dumped to the ground when he tried to beat Taylor to the ball
Taylor took a big step forward with her defense at the camp.
Here she stops Julian's dribble with her left foot and...
..she uses her body to block this would be shot on goal
Coaches cower as Taylor reels back for a blast at the goal during this round of two-on-two - note to Mentors - goals are not the best place to hang out!
The biggest benefit of the camp was the time spent with Mentors.  There were a bunch of High School players there giving each young athlete plenty of attention.  Jordan & Taylor were hanging on their Mentors every word and I saw a real lift in their confidence & game play
Awesome job girls!
