Vacation II - Colorado Springs

Just a few short weeks after returning from our East Coast blitz, we were on the road again, this time to summon memories of Mom's youth in Colorado Springs.   The ride was desolate but eventually scenic when we past plateaus west of Amarillo and hit the Rocky Mountains.  As we finally breathed in some thin mountain air you could feel a sense of relief... and drop in temperatures.  We were excited to embark on what would be a high energy week!

Good luck out of the gate as our hotel room was upgraded and we had a great view as they set up for an evening wedding
Good luck continued as we were greeted by a "kids eat free" sign at Jose Muldoons
Our 1st outing was a trip to the zoo
A half dozen Giraffes in this shot
Impressive performance by the Rhino who followed a series of trainer commands
Descendent of Koko?  This guy wow'd us with his ability to sign
Handling a Corn Snake
Tigers & Bald Eagles were other standouts
The next stop was the "Garden of the Gods".  We spent several hours ensuring we saw all the banner attractions including Kissing Camels, Siamese Twins, and Balanced Rock.  Completely blown away by the surroundings, we climbed where we could and took a barrage of pictures.
Railroad President Charles Perkins purchased the property in 1879 - in 1909 it was conveyed to Colorado Springs under the condition that it forever be free to the public for all to enjoy!
Kissing Camels and other formations...

J&T climb inside the "3 Graces" & Dad joins them on the high ground
Siamese Twins & Balanced Rock
A great place for family & a little romance
We headed on over to Manitou Springs a few times during the week - we enjoyed getting dinner, hanging with the local bears, shopping,
the Penny Arcade, and Manitou Cliff Dwellings
Mom & Taylor are dwarfed by the Dwellings
Great curb appeal
Jordan repeatedly found the camera as we weaved through the structures

Nice view from the cliff
