Since we had such a great time traveling to the Domincan, we decided to take a 2nd Summer vacation to Michigan to connect with family and attend the Leigeb family reunion. The 1st leg would be a trip to St Clair and the Kalmar Log Cabin!
A 7am flight meant a real early arrival at the airport!
About an hour after landing in Detroit Metro, we were in Oxford Michigan visiting with Dad's college friend Jason/family - Taylor enjoys aquatic activities with Jason's kids (Peyton and Jaxen)
(left to right) Peyton, Jordan, Taylor, and Jaxen
After a few hours at Jason's we headed East to St Clair for great views from the from the front porch of the Kalmar Cabin - on our 1st night there were tornado warnings in the surrounding areas and the sky had an ominous glow - no storms were observed but we did see some "swirling clouds"
Horseplay
Michigan means barn time and horses so we were off to meet Aunt Bonnie's Clydesdale, Mario
The girls brush Mario & Jordan finds a barn cat
Everyone got to ride & gets their picture taken
The girls also took Clarence for a spin
We visited a friends farm which raised the level of exotic critters - we loved "Ralphie the Alpaca" and got pictures with him
A baby Miniature Pony & handsome pig
We were lucky this powerful Goose didn't chase any of us
Fishing Tournament
The girls got a lesson from a Seasoned Pro and were catching Fish in no time
Jordan was a natural, quickly bombing casts 30ft across the pond pulling in 4 consecutive fish - Taylor struggled with her cast form and took a tip from Grandpa to switch to a Bamboo pole...
...and Taylor caught the next 3 fish!
The hour ended 5-5 when Jordan caught the only Bass of the day!
It wouldn't be a trip to Michigan without a visit with Bill Jr & family to reminiscence and light fireworks
Jordan looked apprehensive but but got real comfortable lighting rockets...
...and tossing firecrackers - both girls light multiple bottle rockets
and Taylor starts tossing M-80s
More Rockets & Roman Candles
Cousins, Brothers, and Sisters
Hanging out in St Clair
Mom & Dad head to the St Clair Boardwalk and Scenic Turnout - the location where they got engaged July 2000
Dad runs into his old boss and current St Clair County Commissioner, Jeff Bohm
The St. Clair River Classic took place while we were in town - Main Street was closed and filled with speed boats
Selfie by the race award show
We met this massive dog "Rhino" in the crowd
Rhino and his race team accept their trophy
After the races, a massive tanker powers up the choppy river
The Twins get a picture with their Grandparents + Dad's new friend Capone
