Griffin Cheer - Football

Jordan had developed an interest in tumbling which led to trying out for the Griffin Middle School Cheer team.  Although it was a non-traditional preseason, the Cheer team pressed on along with other North Texas sports.  It's been a new experience for us and the weeknight football games have been fun!
Way back in April Jordan tried out for cheer with little experience other then some tumbling, a handful of clinics, a backyard trampoline, and some free time
A short time later she was on the team and getting kidnapped by her 8th grade "Big Sister" and other members of the team

COVID 19 made for little practice but we took a bunch of pictures in her uniform!

Finally a game!

Getting the crowd into it!

A brief break in the action gave these friends time to strike a pose
Halftime is a chance for the team to get all the attention
Referees and opposing Cheer squads watch the action
Griffin is 1 of 2 teams in our league that "Stunt"
Players squeeze through the "cheer bridge"
Our favorite cheer is "Pump it Up!"
All smiles after a Touchdown
When they venture into the crowd it's time to "mask up"

Not for the faint of heart - pumping up the crowd with temps in the low 40s and a misty rain falling

Feeling the cold but hats off to the team - they stayed the entire game while the opposing squad did not even show up
Basketball season is just around the corner and we can move indoors - which is actually less safe these days then cold nights...
